Bath Gallery: Set 55

This was the main bathroom for both guests and family on the main level of a large home. Somehow a linen, toilet, small pedestal sink and tub had been squished into this tiny room. It was too small by any standards, too dark, and the finishings outdated.

The owners had been obtaining estimates for this bath remodel from several companies, but we were the first ones to suggest going out of the existing interior wall confines to enlarge the space!

Just by extending the vanity area into the big laundry room closet behind the bath made this into an open and welcoming room. Since the owners were planning on gutting and starting from scratch, this addition of a few extra studs made complete sense and didn’t take away from any vital spaces – it only enhanced both of the rooms.

At entry the first line of sight is the elegantly finished shower walls in 12x24 porcelain Fina Travertine vein cut Walnut tile inlaid with horizontal glass rocks/Lagoon mosaic tile border that surround the Bradenton deep soaker tub with Delta Linden controls.  Creating visual texture, the same porcelain tile in 12x12 size is on the bath floor.

The new vanity recess area features a Corian Maui countertop with matching set on splashes and a Corian Glacier white under mount sink with Delta Linden faucet. This sits on a semi-custom Merillat Portrait Cotton base cabinet, and above this is the new recessed picture framed medicine cabinet with wall sconces.

Now with the sink on its own wall, the new TOTO Carusoe toilet is able to spaciously rest next to the new semi-custom Merillat Portrait Cotton linen storage behind the bath door.

Insulation, new bath fan/lighting, and supply air location, along with the above described changes took this bathroom from embarrassing to one they are proud to show off and happy to use!

Side note: This bathroom remodel was performed at the same time as changes we made to the interior front of the home: A front entry mudroom remodel and kitchen updates, with walls removed for interaction with both the newly staged living and dining rooms. New doors and flooring, in-floor heat, custom cabinetry & storage inserts, insulation & lighting; made the owners wish for functional and attractive spaces come true!
