After Orfield Design

We changed this rambling home from a tight, dark space, with low ceilings to an open interior dominated by calming colors and inventive space-saving details. Some features in the marvelous kitchen are handmade cherry cabinetry, granite rolling Center Island, new appliances, and a “hidden” desk area. Pantry style doors slide back revealing a computer and desk space which is a perfect spot for after school homework projects or sorting the daily mail. When having guests over you can simply slide the doors closed and the desk area is completely hidden.

Orfield created a sheetrock pass-through with maple ledge from the existing living room to kitchen creating additional light and communication between these formerly separated areas.

We expanded this 416 sq ft kitchen to an 832 sq ft kitchen by building an addition over a full basement, with the 1st floor containing a dining area with custom cabinets flip top benches, china display, home office with French doors, a new powder room, and new mudroom with custom cabinetry.
