After completing a previous project for this client a few years ago, they called us back to streamline their front entrance.
The wood door was original to the home, with two half sidelights & a storm/screen door. It was a left hand swing, which made guests close the door to go around it to stay on the tile flooring with wet shoes. This replacement was the perfect opportunity to change it to a right hand swing, opening up to the most spacious part of the entry, hall & stairwell up.
The interior of the front foyer has beautiful slate flooring, often missed due to the poor lighting, dated oak panel wainscot, basic ranch style trim & gloomy hollow-core flush doors to the coat closet & powder room.
We started at the exterior by replacing the front entry door & two sidelights with Bayer-Built® solid core smooth fiberglass. These have the additional attractive internal white grids & cleaning is a breeze with internal raise/lower/tilt white blinds between the glass, also making them untouchable to pets & little ones. The exterior handle-set is Schlage® Wakefield in traditional bright brass finish. On the interior, the handle is Schlage® with a St. Anne’s Lever in traditional brass to match the rest of the interior handles.
The interior openings off the vestibule received new six-panel, smooth pre-primed, raised panel solid core by Bayer-Built®. Bright brass hinges with matching Schlage® St Anne’s Levers along with new pre-primed Princeton style 2 ¼” casing & 3 3/8” tall baseboard complete the transformation.
In this elegant neighborhood, painting the woodwork white, changing the door styles & painting the walls a soft green now highlights the classic slate flooring & create a better traffic flow. From the outside, enhanced curb-appeal, one is drawn into a refreshingly bright & cozy foyer.
