Obtaining approval from the Minneapolis Preservation Committee and Building Department in order to add on this 5’x2’ bump out so that we could properly remodel the kitchen of this Historic Landmark District Townhome was a lengthy process, requiring Certificates of Appropriateness, Public Notices, and a Committee Hearing– but well worth the wait.
We salvaged, preserved, and reused building materials and architectural details. This is reflected in our seamless application of the exterior siding, fascia/soffit, roofing, window, custom storm/screen, as well as the interior sash, sills, jambs, corner blocks, molding, and wood flooring.
We wanted to capture natural light and brighten the space by using a simple white color palate. The custom cabinets are accented with special order Bendheim Eco-Glass and Wilsonart Laminate Countertops with Waterfall Edges. The creamy browns in the Stone Mosaic border tiles in the Subway Tile backsplash around the kitchen were selected to harmonize with the Blanco Biscotti sink, countertops and Oak flooring. Brushed stainless finishes on the faucet, cabinet hardware, and new lighting appeal to most modern tastes.
As this was our second time working with this customer, our primary goal was to make sure that our client loved her kitchen. From her many referrals and thank you notes, during and after the project, it’s apparent that we succeeded!
